I believe that even when our animal friends have passed over into the spirit world they are always around us. Do you feel the faint brushing against your ankle, do you hear the faintest bark of your old dog, do you hear the hoofbeats of your favorite horse? Close your eyes and remember all of the wonderful times you had together with your best friend and know that they will be at the Rainbow Bridge to greet you when it is your time to cross over. Many animals have come into our life for a few brief moments but they have left imprints on our hearts that will last forever. I have included some of their stories below for you to read.

There is an Indian legend which says when a human dies there is a bridge they must cross to enter into heaven. At the head of that bridge waits every animal that human encountered during their lifetime. The animals, based upon what they know of this person, decide which humans may cross the bridge ... and which are turned away.

Sam
Sadly on Wednesday August 17 we lost Sam to FLD "Fatty Liver Disease". He was not "just" our foster cat he was a part of our kitty family and he will be deeply missed by myself and my children as well as his daddy. Via Con Dios my furry friend until we meet again.

Joey
Today I was informed that Joey was sent across the Rainbow Bridge yesterday as she had developed a tumor under her ribs and stopped eating and drinking. She was almost 18 years old and well loved by her daddy Leon (she was one of our military pet foster cats for a few years). Now I'm sure she is playing with her brother Sam who crossed before her.

Lita Lou
Lita was given to me by our vets office when she was turned in as a day old baby because her momma had triplets and wouldn't nurse her. She had a stroke when she was a little over a year old (which they didn't think she would survive) and her jaw was lopsided from it which gave her a funny look. She was raised indoors like a dog...walked on a leash and could use a pet door :o) She will be forever missed....

BooBoo Kitty
BooBoo was rescued from a local shelter with huge wounds on her neck from a dogbite (which was never treated). We found her on her PTS day and brought her home with us where she has lived happily for the last 2 years. She became very sick in March, 06 and her condition went downhill. Rushed into the vet last night (4-3) and put into ICU BooBoo battled to live. Sadly BooBoo didn't make it through the night and passed queitly from this world into the next with little fanfair much the same as she entered it less than 2 years ago. My heart is broken as will be the hearts of my children when they find out that Boo is not coming home....

Butterscotch
Poor Butters was thrown away at a local apartment complex when his owners got a dog and didn't want him anymore. My youngest son brought him home with him and loved him unconditionally. Sadly Butters was very sick and we had less than 2 years to enjoy his company.
